ASLA: The ASL Assessment

Details

Built on the research at Boston University, the ASLA (American Sign Language Assessment) is designed to assess ASL language arts skills of students age 4-21. The test includes 10 different domains of ASL vocabulary grammar.

The vast majority of educational programs use standardized testing with their students to assess language arts competencies for English. While this is desirable, students should also be tested for fluency in ASL.
Student results are normed against their age peers; there are also a variety of other norming factors that can be applied, depending on the student.
